Sala Silvergruva - Gamla hjulhuset

The old water wheel house at Sala Silvermine, Sala, Sweden.

From 1644 to 1883 this was the most important building of the mine. The water from the large lake system flowed here and powered the two wooden waterwheels with a diameter of 12 meter. The power was transferred with “konstgångar” to pumps and hauling plants in the shafts of the mine.
